"Who are you wearing?" - Oscars 2012

From the moment I switched on E! Entertainment's Live on the Red Carpet to see presenter Giuliana Rancic in a  stunning white Tony Ward Couture dress I knew it would be a night of very few disappointments where fashion was concerned! Some of my favourites which deserve a mention were Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji, Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli and Louise Roe in Black Halo.

Overall Best Dressed - Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

It seems Michelle Williams can do no wrong on the fashion front. For me, this look was the best look of the night. The coral colour of this dress is beautiful against her fair skin and hair, and the Peplum detail is perfect for her figure. Marilyn would be proud.

Best Hair - Jessica Chastain

Glamorous waves loosely pinned half up make this very pretty hair style so easy to emulate.

Best Make Up - Angelina Jolie

The strawberry lip colour is gorgeous! This romantic look  with soft, volumous curls is a refreshing departure from Angelina's usual red carpet style.
 And the after parties . . .

Cameron Diaz wearing Victoria Beckham

LOVE the colour. This is classic Victoria Beckham - a simple, clean design which fits like a glove.

Although its not fashion related, the funniest red carpet moment was Sacha Baron Cohen as his latest character The Dictator "accidently" tipping an urn of ashes on Ryan Seacrest during his live interview! Seacrest was caught completely offguard by the stunt but continued like a pro, later saying he thought the "ashes" were pancake mix! Definitely a clip to search on Youtube!

The Academy Award for Best Dressed goes to . . .

The most exciting red carpet event is almost here! Tomorrow night the 84th Annual Academy Awards aka The Oscars will take place in LA and the worlds most famous actresses will be showcasing beautiful creations by the fashion industry's top designers!

I am especially looking forward to seeing who will choose to wear gowns by Victoria Beckham and Elie Saab, both of whom are highly sought after with actresses literally queuing to be dressed by them! When it comes to the stars themselves, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone are sure to wow with their unique style choices and if their previous award appearances are anything to go by they definitely won't disappoint!

Here are my top five favourite Oscar looks from past ceremonies (there are SO many others I love but I narrowed it down!) . . .

Michelle Williams wearing Vera Wang (2006)

Halle Berry in Elie Saab when she won Best Actress in 2002.

Kate Winslet wearing Ben de Lisi (2002)

Penelope Cruz in Atelier Versace (2007)

Jessica Alba in Atelier Versace (2006)

If I could buy one thing this month . . .

It would be the Mary Katrantzou for Topshop 'Pheasant Dream' dress (£350)

Her prints are so incredibly unique and beautiful. Each item is captivating, there's so much detail and colour to take in and look at. In my opinion, she is the most exciting designer out there right now!

Mary Katrantzou's nine piece collection goes on sale in selected Topshop stores on 17th February.

Brick Lane & Breakfast at Tiffany's

So its half term, I start my other job next week, its almost my birthday and to top it off I've had a great weekend! I spent the day in London yesterday with my friend Elise. We mainly wandered around Brick Lane where we went to a vintage kilo fair at The Rag Factory and vintage department store Blitz (see photos!).

The shop layout of Blitz reminded me of Urban Outfitters and All Saints and sold a huge variety of vintage clothes, footwear, accessories, jewellery and furniture! There was even a little coffee shop inside the store! I especially loved the extensive collection of scarves and belts they had for sale!

Blitz, 55-59 Hanbury St E1 5JP

Today (Sunday) I had lunch out with my mum at Oscar's Festival Cafe in Broadstairs. I love it there and may do a post about it soon! I then spent my afternoon drinking coffee, hot chocolate and watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and Serendipity . . .

All in all, another perfect Sunday

My New Beauty Essential

A little while ago I won a Figs and Rouge giveaway from one of my favourite style blogs The Raspberry Branch! I was kindly sent two multipurpose balms, Aloe & Mint and Wild Cherry with Sweet Orange, in the most beautiful little tins. The minute I saw the packaging I was sold already! What makes Figs and Rouge balms even more unique is the fact they are 100% organic, completely free from any harmful chemicals or synthetic ingredients.

Aloe & Mint has a very smooth, solid and slightly dryer texture than Wild Cherry meaning it would probably last longer as less is needed each time you use it! I would use this for when I need some lip therapy as its brilliant for protecting and soothing dry, irritated and sore lips.

Wild Cherry is my favourite of the two! I was surprised at first by its grainy texture but it immediately dissolves into a smooth balm once its on your lips! Thanks to its incredible smell its also a great on-the-go perfume (I use it this way by rubbing a small amount into my wrists) and can be used for dry skin anywhere from your hands to your face!

I've been carrying the gorgeous Wild Cherry with me everywhere since I received them, although it hasn't fully replaced my love for Creme Brulee Vaseline which still has a space in my make up bag!

Snowy Sunday!

As the weatherman predicted, I woke up to a very beautiful blanket of snow! After a relaxing morning of reading my new issues of Glamour and Marie Claire and a breakfast consisting of fresh coffee and American style blueberry and banana pancakes, I ventured out into the garden wearing my trusty Ugg boots to take some photos. I was surprised at how deep the snow actually is, I haven't seen this much in a long time!

I absolutely love the hat I'm wearing in the photo above! Its another amazing find from Asos and perfect for this weather! My plans for the rest of the day consist of catching up on 90210, watching 500 Days of Summer and Desperate Housewives later tonight! All in all a perfect Sunday so far . . .

Two weeks to go . . .

Until my birthday!! I am unbelievably excited to be going to London for the weekend with some of my closest friends, I just hope its going to have warmed up a bit otherwise us girls will all freeze in our dresses! My outfit (see previous post) is now complete after the bag I won for £5 from Ebay arrived this morning. Its originally from River Island and dark purple suede with animal print lining. It goes perfectly with my petrol coloured dress!
